This film we made for a University presentation at the HdK, Berlin in 1996. I wish it was completely outdated - but unfortunately - 17 years later - it is still up to date... The reason is: because the Tibet issue itself has not been 'updated'. It got stuck in a world of totalitarian communism. And it got stuck in a worldwide corruption scandal where Human rights are sacrificed for international trade agreements. If China wasn't such an important trade and business partner - no one would accept that lie that 'Tibet is a part of China' and that the Dalai Lama is a separatist. No one would accept that Chinese claim that it as an 'internal affair'. Genocide is never an internal affair. Violation of Human rights is never an internal affair. (Could Hitler have claimed that the holocaust is an internal German affair?) We buy those lies with all the other Chinese goods that we buy every day - and we sell - sell out - we sell our own integrity. The Tibet issue is not up to date - because the world is not up to date. We are living in the 21st century. And this century can be an age of global tolerance, universal responsibility, non-violent conflict solutions and peace. Let's update the Tibet issue, let's update history, let's update this world, let's update ourselves. I hope this little film will be outdated very soon.
